Adele Pennington, kitted out with Bramwell International gear

Adele Pennington, Mountaineer and Motivational Speaker heads off to Ecuador kitted out with Bramwell International gear….

Adele holder of the Mountain Instructor Certificate (MIC), has over 20 years experience of walking, mountaineering and climbing in the UK. Although a little embarrassed to admit it, Adele has ticked the Scottish and Irish Munros, topped out on all the Welsh and English 2000 foot tops and climbed extensively all around the UK, both in summer and winter. Always seeking an adventure Adele tries to ensure that every day out on the hill is a good one. Adele’s apprenticeship to the delights and dangers of the mountains has involved excursions to the Alps, New Zealand and weekend trips to her homeland hills.

She is also a passionate instructor who is able to facilitate peoples mountaineering and climbing aspirations with the launch of Adele Pennington Mountaineering. Between 2007 and the present day Adele has concentrated her efforts to the 8000m peaks. She has stood on the top of Cho-Oyu, one of the summits of Manaslu and the top of the world (Everest) twice .. (the first British woman to do so!) - as well as reaching camp II on Shishapangma and Gasherbrum II. More recently in May this year Adele had to retreat from 150m below the Summit of Makalu (8463m) as she became severely ill with pneumonia. But now she is off to Ecuador on 15th December – 3rd January 2011 to ensure that her left lung that underwent thoracic surgery earlier this year, will perform and allow her to climb Cayambe (5790m) and Cotopaxi (5897m).

With her Meindl boots, Gregory pack and Source Hydration system, Adele will be equipped to face her challenge ahead, Adele comments “ I am very much looking forward to testing my new Inyo 35 Gregory pack and source hydration system on this expedition. My entrusted comfortable Meindl boots will be used for all my acclimatisation hikes and mountain approaches in Ecuador before switching to plastic boot to climb the Volcanoes.”

We will be keeping in touch with Adele during her trip, so look out for updates.
