Product induction and retailer training is essential for any outdoor clothing and apparel manufacturer or distributor. While many traditionally give presentations, leading outdoor distributor Bramwell International has taken its retailers hiking in the hills, letting them truly get to grasp with its products.
Guided by Everest conqueror and member of educational charity The Outward Bound Trust James Lancashire and Henry Rogers, also part of The Outward Bound Trust, Bramwell International took 14 retailers from across the North of England on a three hour hike up Blencathra in the Lake District. During the walk retailers were given the chance to trial Meindl Kansas GTX boots, Gregory Navarino 12 and Wasatch 12 backpacks, and the Source Widepac hydration bladder. As part of the training retailers were taken to the Rheged Centre in Penrith where they were given an overview of the products before setting off on their trek.

Later in the day James Lancashire gave a presentation on his ascent of Mount Everest. Commenting on the training day Director for Bramwell International, Alastair Bramwell said: “We are always looking for innovative ways to brief our customers and partners on our products. Getting retailers out and about to try the gear for themselves is a great way for them to really get to grips with the product and truly understand the benefits first hand. Having such expert guides on hand for our training day really enhanced the overall experience. “It has been a great learning experience for our retailers and we have had some really positive feedback from everyone, with many retailers requesting products for their stores. It’s definitely something we’ll be looking to do again in the future.”
Retailers who participated in the training day included representatives from George Fisher, The Climbers Shop, Stuart Cunningham, Mountain Life, Northumbria Mountain Sports, Great Outdoors, The Walking Shop, and Pro Adventure.
