Courses take place on one highly informative and enjoyable and full-on foraging day, typically lasting for between 12 and 13 hours and involve foraging for plants, seaweeds and fungi, as seasonally available (not animals, fish or shellfish).
We will explore different habitats, for example, woodland, arable land, river bank, waste ground, salt marsh and seashore (visiting at least 3 such habitats on each course). The aim is to provide a general introduction to seasonally available wild plants, how to harvest them sustainably and safely -i.e. how to distinguish between toxic look-a-likes, and how to utilize them as food, including drinks.
The cost of the course is normally: £150 per person. This includes a full
12-13 hour day, 2 foraged three course meals - a delicious gourmet style one in
doors for lunch, the other more wild and camp style on the beach *, preprepared
wild food tasters and samples throughout the day, a tasty wild pickle and
seasonal alcoholic drink to take home, information sheets and transportation
back to your hotel at the end of the day if required – as well, of course,
having me there to share 20 years of wild food experience.
Please make cheques for the full amount out to Fergus Drennan, and send
to 16 Underdown Road, Herne Bay, Kent. CT6 5BP
