Bramwell International Sends Students on Outward Bound Course

Altrincham College Students to Take Part on Outward Bound Course Thanks to Support from Bramwell International
Altrincham College of Arts, based in south Manchester, is sending a group of 50 students on a three day Outward Bound experience in October 2011, thanks to sponsorship from Bramwell International, suppliers of Meindl footwear, Source hydration systems & sandals and Gregory back packs.
The students come from a range of challenging backgrounds and by taking part in the course will have the chance to improve their self-esteem, confidence and communications skills. The Outward Bound Trust is an educational charity that inspires young people to fulfil their potential through challenging outdoor experiences and has centres in Wales, the Lake District and Scotland.
Many of the students will be stepping into unchartered territory and will learn to challenge their own comfort zones.
Katherine Tovey, Assistant Head & Head of Sixth Form at Altrincham College of Arts, commented: “We believe our students will take away skills they will use directly in their studies at school, helping them to become more independent learners. We hope they gain improved self esteem and confidence, and an improved ability to communicate with peers and staff. We hope that participation in the course will give the confidence to the group to develop their leadership within the school as well as preparing them for future challenges.”
