Mary Wakeling of Inverness is the very happy owner of a new pair of Meindl Burma Pro boots which she won through a competition with the on-line walk guide carfreewalks.org. She has sent her winning walks to Bramwell International for others to make use of and enjoy.
Mary sent us a message to introduce what her new boots will be up to:
"I now have my nice new boots and am wearing them at home as I write. They are very comfortable. One day soon I will have to introduce them to some Scottish bog, shouldn't be difficult to find!
My old Meindl Borneo boots have served me well and went on their final outing last Saturday in the Cairngorms, in fantastic mild sunny November weather which was a lot better drained underfoot than a lot of places. No trace left of the October snowfall. We took the train and bus to the ski centre and ended up on Ben Macdui and Cairngorm. The next day was still incredibly warm, clear and sunny, so we took a train to Achnasheen and braved the soggy surface of Fionn Bheinn for a repeat trip and some great views at the summit.
We enjoy the challenge of finding car free walks accessible from Inverness, there are more than most people might think, from Munros to coastal walks. The scenery is great, but you need a good pair of sturdy boots to cope with bogs, scree, heather and other Scottish conditions underfoot. My old Meindl Borneo boots have taken me on some wonderful adventures, but I look forward to exploring even more in my new Meindl Burma pro boots with Goretex lining!"
