Bramwell Staff - Bramwell's overland in Africa
Alastair and Helen Bramwell with their three children arrived in Cairo on 1st September 2011 to begin their overland trip of Africa, they were closely followed by ‘Rosie’ the Toyota Land Cruiser who had travelled by boat.
The adventures began at once from ‘how to drive in Africa’ lessons courtesy of taxi drivers to the inevitable and endless hairiness of visa’s and border crossings. Wild life, the remarkable logic of African roads and fabulous people added to the colourful experiences the Bramwell family encountered along the way.
From Cairo the family headed South along the East coast through the Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar and Mozambique were very sadly Rosie, the Toyota met with a bus, all the Bramwells were fine but poor Rosie had to be sent for some lengthy repairs. A new truck was supplied by the insurance company and the journey continued, heading West through Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and finally South Africa and its Southernmost tip, Cape Agulhas.
