Ali Rowsell

Ali is a full-time teacher who has worked internationally, in countries including Australia, South Korea and Switzerland. She specialises in the outdoors, in particular mountain walking, and is a freelance International Mountain Leader, Climbing Wall Instructor and Mountain Bike Leader.

As a seasoned adventurer who has set foot and traveled on all continents except Antarctica to date, she has a passion for exploring new locations and sharing her love for the outdoors.

Based in Sussex, Ali can regularly be found exploring every kilometre of the South Downs, as well as Ashdown Forest. Ali regularly works and plays in Snowdonia and the Lake District, and has explored all other National Parks the UK has to offer.

Ali is an Author for Cicerone, who have the ‘reputation as the very best publisher of guides to exploring the hills, mountains and countryside of Britain, Europe and the world’ (www.cicerone.co.uk).  Ali has written a comprehensive guidebook on Switzerland’s Jura Crest Trail (945), a 310km Swiss national trail traversing the Jura mountains from Zurich to Geneva (https://www.cicerone.co.uk/switzerland-s-jura-crest-trail). Ali continues to write articles for Cicerone on summer and winter mountain walking, around the world.

Ali has been wearing Meindl boots and hiking shoes for over 18 years, walking them into the ground until they finally give up the ghost. The most satisfying of which was when Ali departed with her Meindl Borneo’s on the Salkantay trail to Machu Pichu in Peru, after 12 years of international use!
