When the World Cup downhill championships come so close (Fort William is only an hour and a half away from us) it would be rude not to spend a day popping through to see the action on the tracks down from Aonach Mor. We were lucky enough to get tickets to see the finals on Sunday.

The weather forecast was good, saying that there might be a chance of rain later on in the day. So we all packed our rucksacks with the things we might need including the essential cow bell for cheering the passing riders.

This year we had hoped that we might get up to the top in the gondola and walk down the side of the track as the riders were coming through. We jumped into the gondola, the boys were delighted but on best behaviour, when we were accompanied by some police officers that were heading up to make sure everything was good at the top.
